A few days ago, I bought a Jean Giono book—Song of the World—found at Dogtown Books in Gloucester, Massachussetts. I'm excited to dig into it.

Hope you enjoy! Giono can be kind of a trip -- an acquired taste, at least for some -- but I enjoy his writing. In case you don't already know it, I'll mention that the animated adaptation of The Man Who Planted Trees is lovely, too.

I love Gloucester, by the way. Not my native town -- that would be Newton MA, though I mostly grew up in the Ohio Valley -- but I have family in Eastern Mass and visit the area often.

Yeah, Gloucester is a really cool town. It's nice to visit a blue collar fishing town that has retained some connections to their old way of life. The whole north shore and especially Cape Ann is worth visiting.
