It isn’t just callous *language* in Canada: the Medical Assistance in Dying law is so lax that a person’s physician is not even notified or consulted before they kill someone who wants to die. I was just in Canada last month and the stories that my uncle (a physician) told me about showing up to work only to discover that one of his patients had been killed without a single word from him was shocking to me.

I continue to be astounded (but clearly I shouldn't) just how FAST this is all developing. When I turned in final book edits, MAID was #6 cause of death in Canada. Today it's #5. Any stats one might report become outdated so fast. Horrifying.

The society of the household did not get true recognition until the sacrament of matrimony ("mother-making") recognized the permanent nature of the "oikonomos" in the wife as opposed to a hired steward.

This idea of the mother as manager of resources is explored for the second millennium in the book Redeeming Economics by Mueller

My wife &I favor a holistic approach to human flourishing that includes an agenda that supports families with children, single men & women, & married couples who don’t have children due to a variety of factors. We would begin by having faithful Christian individuals & churches truly serve those in need including the homeless, aged persons & families who might need baby sitting or tutoring for children who are having academic difficulties. Additionally, rather than tax reductions for the wealthy & large corporations more support for comprehensive medical care could be provided for parents, children, & the poor. We as Christians could support increased tax deductions for families with children & encourage all of us to see everyone as children of our Triune God.

Come Jord Jesus,

What a beautiful vision, and a reminder that none of us exist alone, but we have all been created for community, for fellowship--with each other and with God.
